I hope everyone had a great time of worship this morning.  I want to especially thank Ami and Tamara for their service and organization of the potluck after church today!  I would personally like to see all of you each and every Sunday but I also know we have several in the parenting elective and as Spring and Summer approach there are many activities and service areas that may take people away from class.   That said I thought putting the notes each week on the blog may help for some.  Below are the notes from this morning.

See you next week (and some of you this evening)!

Genesis 31

Board –

World                         Witness            Way
verse1-3                      4-13                14-18

WORLD

1-3 – What the world cares about, attitudes when you aren’t helping them with their goals, Listening to the Lord – Go where God is working – Just like in 26:14 the philistines became Jealous but God in 28:15 promised to be with him

Hebrews 13:5

Attitudes of the world – matthew 15:9-10

Go back to Jame 4:1-3

Romans 12:16-21

1 Peter 5:6

WITNESS

PLACE
4-  - Communication has a good place – where you can be specific and can be heard,

PERCEIVE OR SEE
5 – What the world wants and what we want may be vastly different but we must SEE it first and notice the attitude changes – Notice that what matters is if you hear from and if you are with God

PERSONAL (INTEGRITY)
6 – Testifying to your work and integrity is something we should all be able to do – colossians 3:23, matthew 5:16

PROBLEM (TESTIMONY IN BAD) - 7 – Jacob notices God’s sovereignty even though he has not been treated ‘fairly’ by someone else – his boss

PLAN (TESTIMONY OF GOD’S GOODNESS) - 8-9 – God obviously had a plan and was working in that plan – Jacob is testifying to two things simultaneously – One – God is in control and two Jacob is not – his testimony is not that he is the animal husbandry mastermind or that genetics are important but that God is working.

PERSON of God - SPECIFIC ENCOUNTER
10-Encouter through the dream – He saw the situation, he
11 – listened to God’s voice
12 – notice that God knows what is going on and He knows what is going on with us
13 – He has a personal relationship with Jacob and Jacob made vows – he gives him direction at this point  - even 20+ years later from that time to go

His testimony to what God told him to the ladies is complete

WAY

FOLLOWERS
14-18 – The wives respond (v 16) to do whatever God told him to do.  They set out to do what God had told Jacob through the dream.

HELP, SUPPLIES, NEED

Next week – Running….

31:32 we are reminded that Jacob didn’t know that Rachel had stolen – although it is a fairly close story to what happened to Isaac by Jacob.  Hmmm.
